THE JOHN WICKHAN scholarship for Literature 2014 was awarded to three students of the Barbados Community College in a brief ceremony in the College’s conference room this morning.

The scholarship, established in 2004 in recognition of the work of Wickham, noted journalist and writer, went to Jendayi Worrell, Kassandra Headley and Racquel Rowe. To qualify for the scholarship a student should possess a grade point average (GPA) of 3.75.

Worrell went beyond that with a GPA score of 4.0 and was rewarded with a plaque and $1 500. Both Headley and Rowe scored a GPA of 3.87 and took home a plaque and $1 000 each for their effort.

The presentation was attended by Wickham’s daughter Fran Wickham, representatives of Nation Publishing, and staff of the College and family members of the winners.

Janeil Odle, BCC’s sole winner of an exhibition this year, was the winner of the scholarship last year. She is currently pursuing a Law Degree at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus. (JS)
