Police have arrested and jointly charged three St John men for possession of 350 sea eggs or sea urchins during the close season.
They are 23-year-old Deon Norville and Anthony Payne, 41, both of Martins Bay, as well as 34-year-old Omar Bootman of Sherbourne.
Earlier today, members of the Marine Police Unit went to the beach at Roaches, St John, near Martins Bay, after receiving a report of “suspicious activity”.
The three men were arrested at that time. They are scheduled to appear in District C Magistrates Court tomorrow.
The harvesting, sale and consumption of sea eggs is illegal in Barbados. Several bans have been imposed by Government in an attempt to protect the marine creatures and allow the stock to replenish. (PR/SAT)
