Aquila Green, 24, wants to change the face of tourism in Barbados.
The student, who is currently pursuing her degree in tourism and travel at the Barbados Community College, says she wants to see the sector marketed with more young people in mind.
“Although we are an island of sea and sand we are much more, and we have a lot of youth-based talent that we can tap into,” she says.
After graduation from BCC, Aquila plans to enter the University of the West Indies Cave Hill campus, to get a bachelor’s in hospitality management.
“I hope to run my own travel agency. . . . Anything where I can get more involved with promoting and marketing my island,” she says.
In her spare time Aquila loves hanging out with her friends, soaking up the sun at the beach or she can be found spending time with children.
“Kids are fun and very easy to get along with. I hope to have at least two after I get my career off the ground.”
