Tribute to the bard
Wed, January 25, 2012 - 12:02 AM
The cultures of Barbados and Scotland merged over the weekend when bagpiper Martyn Graves arrived at the Grantley Adams International Airport to perform for the St Andrew’s Society.
Graves will be piping as part of the entertainment at the Burns Supper which will be held at Sunbury Plantation House in memory of Scottish poet Robert Burns.
The supper will mark the 75th anniversary of the St Andrew’s Society in Barbados. Members of the society will recite poetry to celebrate the Immortal Memory Of Burns, a mainstay of Burns suppers.
Here, Graves (right) and his wife Jill are greeted at the airport by Hamish McClurg, past president of the St Andrew’s Society, yesterday. (LK)
