Trio after DLP ticket

THE BATTLE to carry the banner for the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) in St Michael South-East, is a three-man race.

With long-standing Member of Parliament Hamilton Lashley quitting elective politics, hotelier Hal Martin, banker/consultant Patrick Tannis and schoolteacher Pedro Shepherd have offered themselves to the people of Pine, Wildey, St Barnabas, and the surrounding areas.

Yesterday, the trio put forward their plans and proposals for the constituency at a meet and greet informal session before a packed classroom at Parkinson Memorial Secondary.

Some members of the audience were upset they were not allowed to pose questions to the prospective candidates.

Tannis, a hometown boy and a former national junior basketball player, said he feels the heartbeat of the people.

“I am one of them and I bring to the area, a heartbeat experience. I have a team that can bring serious investment to this community. A major church, People’s Cathedral, is moving into the constituency, and I am heavily involved in that process,” he said.
