PORT OF SPAIN, June 17, CMC -- Almost one month after he publicly objected to the system of governance under the five-party People's Partnership Government, David Abdullah, Political Leader of the labour-based Movement for Social Justice (MSJ), on Sunday withdrew the MSJ from the coalition and resigned as a government senator.

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar said she was in the process of making a statement on the matter later Sunday.

Ashworth Jack, the leader of another coalition partner, the Tobago Organisation of the People (TOP), said he was saddened by Abdullah's departure from the government but "the show must go on".
