Turtle murder, says Hynam

MURDER AND STUPID were just two of the words used by an incensed and horrified woman to describe the discovery of the remains of a butchered turtle floating in the waters off Browne’s Beach yesterday.

“It is just an appalling act and someone is very sick out there,” stressed Penelope Hynam.

The former director of the Barbados National Trust and a self-confessed conservationist and turtle lover could not hold back her anger after she and others of a group of early morning swimmers found the head, three flippers and pieces of the underbelly of the turtle in the near-shore water.

It ruined her day, she said. It also upset everyone on the beach.
