HUNDREDS of sea turtle eggs were either destroyed or washed into the sea at Road View, St Peter, last week when Tropical Storm Emily affected the island.
Upset Road View resident Franklyn Holder, who has created a Save Mullins Bay campaign, is calling on Government to have the beach rebuilt as a matter of urgency in order to save the turtles too.
Holder, who grew up in the area, said the beach was also known as Turtle Beach because it was a popular nesting place for the reptiles.
He said because of the severe beach erosion that had taken place over the past two years, there was very little nesting space left on the shore for the hundreds of turtles who visited around this time of the year to nest. (MB)
