The island’s two largest workers’ unions have been told to mend fences.
The call came from the executive director of the Barbados Employers’ Confederation, Tony Walcott who, while speaking at the opening ceremony of the Congress of Trade Unions and Staff Associations of Barbados’ (CTUSAB) tenth biennial delegates conference, said that doing this was the only way that the country could move forward.
Walcott told an audience gathered on Wednesday night at the Barbados Public Workers Co-operative Credit Union in Belmont Road, St Michael, including of Minister of Labour, Dr Esther Byer Suckoo, CTUSAB president Cedric Murrell and his general secretary Dennis DePeiza, that it was imperative that the fractured partnership be healed.
Speaking on behalf of the Barbados Private Sector Association, Walcott said that being a “good” partner, it was his duty to speak to the separation. (SDB Media)
