SCORES OF VINCENTIANS residing in Barbados yesterday started collecting cash and emergency supplies to help weather-battered St Vincent and the Grenadines.
The Barbados Red Cross Society opened its warehouse in Warrens, St Michael, so people could donate to the relief effort for St Vincent as well as Dominica and St Lucia – three countries devastated by flood rains and landslides on Christmas Eve.
And today, executive director of the Barbados-based Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), Ronald Jackson, and representatives from a number of international donor agencies will be heading out to the stricken islands.
Jackson said the mission, which would visit St Vincent first, would carry critical supplies including hygiene kits and water purification tablets.
