VOB 92.9 grilled its way to the top, dethroning previous champions HOTT 95.3 in the second annual Kraft Grill Wars at Oistins Bay Garden, Christ Church, yesterday.
The VOB team, led by broadcaster Ian “Cupid” Gill, amassed 1 652 points, running away with the competition by more than 100 points from second placed Life 97.5. Third place went to HOTT, while fourth was Love 104.1.
Organiser Sonju Patterson, Starcom’s promotions officer, said the event was a way to engage their radio personalities with their listeners. She said the personalities loved to cook and she was often amazed by what the teams came up with.
Winning captain Gill said the trick was to love cooking and to make sure the flavours were just right.
“We spent a lot of time determining what taste was better and the win proved our combinations were correct,” he said. (CA)
