The Nation’s Associate Editor, Sherie Holder-Olutayo takes a look at what’s trending today in Barbados.
Today’s front page story in the Sunday Sun which reveals financial disparities in the management of the Barbados Water Authority has our online readers talking. Many are concerned about the findings and what they will ultimately lead to. Several readers eagerly chimed in to voice their opinions. Here are their comments.
Tony Webster: We should be patient. BWA efficiency will rise to stratospheric levels, once everybody is happily installed in their spanking-new $44 million headquarters. Will a further water-rates increase be "naturally" required to repay this $44M? I don’t know, but I guess that anybody's guess would be good.
Ishmael Desai: And due to this we have to pay more for water so they could waste more of our hard earn money.
Dawn Barrow: And who shall be held accountable for this, pray tell, as much time and effort that is spent investigating. Follow the money.
Carl Harper: I hope everyone sees how their 60% water rate increase was being used by the BWA - a colossal wasteHas anyone noticed any improvement in the service or efficiency at BWA? What we have seen is wastage after wastage. Who will pay with their jobs or be held accountable? We shall wait and see.
