What’s Trending: Dad’s love for son
Mon, July 16, 2012 - 9:27 AM
The Nation’s Online Editor Carol Martindale looks at What’s Trending today in Barbados.
The story of dad Terry Phillips whose son Darik Phillips is now helpless after an asthma attack four years ago which has left him with significant brain injury, has touched many of our readers.
This SUNDAY SUN story highlighted how heart-wrenching it is for Terry to watch his 18 year-old son lying in his adjustable bed day after day, as helpless as a newborn baby.
Darik is unable to move without assistance, cannot speak, has to be kept in diapers, is fed through a tube inserted in his stomach and urinates into a bag.
Our readers emphatized with this family.
Al Wright: “That's the love a good father has for his children.’
De Lioness: “So touching. I wish all the best for him and his son.”
Sharon Woolley: “So very sad. A wonderful father who deserves to see his son given every possible help in life.”
Pebbles Walcott: “So touching. I wish I was in Barbados where I could volunteer my time to your son while you go out there to make a living to take care of his needs. I pray that God will bless you with all of the necessary help for your son. Stay strong and may God continue to strengthen you and the rest of your family, In Jesus wonderful name.”
