What’s Trending: Focus on the roads

The Nation’s Online Editor Carol Martindale looks at What’s Trending in Barbados today.
We at the Nation want to take this time to wish each and every one of our readers a very Merry Christmas. We wish you good health, peace and prosperity at this time.
Today, the usual festivities associated with Christmas will be on the mouths of most of our readers. However, another story attracting some attention is the call by president of the Barbados Road Safety Association Sharmaine Roland-Bowen for drastic measures to curb escalating road deaths and some readers are in full agreement.
This is what some had to say coming on the heels of a tragic accident last Sunday that claimed the lives of three people.:
Deenee Thomas: “The roads are narrow, grass overgrown along the roads, people are driving as if they are on a four lane highway, minibuses are being driven with lawless drivers at the wheel, people are not obeying the rules of the road and the list goes on. Not to mention that the roads (many) need repairing and widening. Should I say more. Oh yes stiffer fines for breaking any of the rules of the roads, and more stringent rules for obtaining a driver's licence, and the list goes on and on.”
Jean Goodridge: “The roads are too small”.
