What’s Trending: No quorum for House gun case

Today’s Midweek Nation story where Speaker of the House Michael Carrington revealed that a lack of quorum was the reason for Parliament’s tardiness in handling the two-year-old issue between Dale Marshall and Dr David Estwick. Our online readers were quick to weigh in on this issue and here are their comments.

Tony Waterman: Another case of a public official trying to cover his you know what. Come on man Dale Marshall is right, nothing has been done ,it is now two years later and you are blaming the lack of a quorum? What a pile of barnyard manure. No doubt this is one of the reasons why this Country is in Trouble. All he said is that he did not get any satisfaction yet and he has not. Maybe something is amiss.

Carl Harper: Mr. Carrington: "[The committee] met on the first occasion, where we circulated some material with respect to procedure" - more than a year and a half after the incident occurred. If the Speaker's action is not gross tardiness in dealing with the gun-toting incident after such a long time, I don't know what is. Last week's verbal exchange in the House has notably received the Speaker's urgent attention, compared to Dr Estwick's alleged dangerous gun incident of more than 18 months ago.

Tony Webster: Not just lack of quorum. Just plain and simple lack, as in lackadaisical. As in lack of decorum; lack of self-respect and lack of pride. Lack of example to others!
