What’s Trending: PM’s move

Thu, January 19, 2012 - 9:45 AM

The Nation’s Online Editor Carol Martindale looks at What’s Trending today in Barbados.

The Alexandra School ongoing saga continues to be a sad state of affairs for some of our online readers.

Many are waiting to see what Prime Minister Freundel Stuart will do to resolve this dispute which initially started with 30 teachers at the St Peter school asking for principal Jeff Broomes to be separated.

There have since been many twists and turns.

Today, readers are again calling for an end to the dispute.

Devaron Bruce: “It’s ridiculous that this has to go to a PM of a country, but if so then so be it.”

Sarah Pomeranz Layne:  “What other country in the world (ok, maybe there are some.. but not some that are this close to first world status) who's PM or leader has to step in to a dispute between a school teacher and her union and the principal of the school? Just backward.”

Blon D Mayers Trotman:  “What will the PM do? Fire people?”

Stephanie Bonner: “Mr PM heads should be rolling. Do something.”

Many are also reflecting and lamenting on how long this issue has gone on.

Nayo Bowen:  “This is heartbreaking for anyone who really loves Alexandra and is truly proud to be affiliated with the institution. I'm deeply saddened!”

Joyann Waithe: “It’s sad they have to step in. This should have never gotten so far and out of hand. Utter nonsense if you ask me. And who is suffering? The kids.”
