What’s Trending: Teacher in breach of Act
Fri, July 06, 2012 - 8:47 AM
The Nation’s Online Editor Carol Martindale looks at What’s Trending today in Barbados.
This morning the eyes of readers are on the Alexandra School dispute.
When some read this morning that the senior teacher who refused to teach a class at the Alexandra School for an entire term did breach the Public Service Act’s code of conduct, many responded.
Chief Personnel Officer Gail Atkins said the teacher’s action warranted a dismissal, once the correct procedures were followed.
This is what some had to say on this issue:
Ricci Mensah: “ They should be dismissed, in particular the year head. Outrageous and unprofessional behaviour.”
Caleb Watson: “They should be dismissed, sending a strong message to Ms Redman, that her industrial strike action against the state won't be tolerated.”
Phyllis Moseley: “Mrs Redman and crew needs to be sent a strong message by the time this inquiry concludes. Our children are the future. Those teachers acted irresponsibly and unprofessionally on all counts. The year head was bang out of order, a disgrace to the teaching profession.”
