What’s Trending: Ten percent cut

The Nation’s Online Editor Carol Martindale looks at What’s Trending today in Barbados.
Businessman Andrew Bynoe’s call for a ten per cent pay cut across the board has generated quite a bit of debate among our online readers this morning.
He also went further to say that he believed Barbados needed to address issues which affect the overall standard of living in a “dispassionate and an intelligent” way. This is what the readers said:
De Lioness: “We barely and I really mean barely making ends meet, living from pay check to pay check and he got the gall to suggest what?”
Marsha Wardle-Rogers: “Is he out of his ever loving mind? He could not be talking about cutting the pay of the already struggling Barbadian. Shame on him.”
De Amour Murrell: “I figure if you cut people's salaries, you will also cut their spending power. So what's the point? That won't be very good for the economy in general.”
Coleen Phillips: “We well well, the rich is getting richer and the poor will continue to cry out for help.”
Paula Harris: “He can suggest a pay cut but won't suggest a price reduction to ease the poor man who's out there struggling to survive.”
Kania Vincent: “I’m so sorry to hear this. Shame on him.”

Andrew Bynoe has it made in life. A millionaire - so he can say anything silly that affects struggling poor people in this country, the same folks that will patronize his establishment on their ten percent paycut. what is his contribution? Higher food prices.

Comment LinkWould you match a 10 per cent pay cut with a 20% decrease on the price of your goods to help balance the economy and ease our burden, Mr Bynoe? If you lower your prices, you will sell more and still achieve your goal of being on top.
Wonder if you are preparing to lay off staff now!!!
