The Nation’s Online Editor Carol Martindale looks at What’s Trending in Barbados today.
Minister of Education Ronald yesterday broke his three-month silence on the Alexandra School impasse.
He spoke passionately in the House of Assembly yesterday calling for an industrial relations court and stating that teaching should be an essential service.
Some readers also had their say:
Akeeba Prescod: “Wait this situation fly pass his head months ago. When he was supposed to deal with the issue he didn't so what's his say now? I don't even what to hear it.”
Wendell Callender: “Folks let us look at the big picture. What this shows is that there is a big disagreement between the PM and this MP over the handling of the Alexandra matter. Remember that the BSTU refused to meet with the joint team of Minister of Education, Minister of Labour and Attorney General because Jeff Broomes was at the meeting. The PM …carted them off to his private residence at Ilaro Court without Jeff Broomes or the Ministers. …. No wonder Jones is lashing out in this forum and in this fashion! This says a lot. Let us follow further developments with interest.”
