The Nation’s Online Editor Carol Martindale looks at What’s Trending in Barbados today.
Charles Matthew Frederick was sentenced yesterday for the shooting deaths of Arthur Chaderton and his son-in-law Gerhard Stock on August 2, 2011. Calling the double killings horrendous and violent, Justice Maureen Crane-Scott imposed two concurrent life sentences on Frederick.
Tessa Chaderton-Shaw, speaking on behalf of the family, said justice was served. However, she said the lives lost would never be returned to the family.
Readers are today commenting on the sentence imposed.
Donna Juanita Walrond-Howell: “I think life in prison is way better than death. In death he is set free, in prison, he has to sit there everyday and think about what he did and that will kill him more. He no longer has a life, his life is over!”
Darren Garrett: “Life caged up like an animal being told when to eat when to sleep I think I'd choose death.”
Miah Kamali Shaw: “This is my family. Now this man would know what it feels like to lose his life behind bars. My two uncles were killed senseless and I wish nothing but confusion upon your life.”
