The Nation’s Online Editor Carol Martindale looks at What’s Trending in Barbados today.
When readers discovered that missing teen Tameka Absalon had returned home yesterday many of our online readers were relieved.
Absalon is from Flat Rock, St George.
Police sent out a notice earlier this week asking the public to assist in locating the missing girl. Yesterday another release was issued stating that she was safe.
Readers were happy the teen was traced, but many expressed concern about the number of young people reported missing in Barbados.
Ashley Stone: “It's good she's back home and safe, but what happened? Where was she? Who was she with? What happened? This must have been the fifth or sixth missing person who went missing and showed up and that's it.”
Omar Watson: “Where do 90 per cent of these girls go when reported missing?”
Vernetta Lawrence: “Glad she's safe… I know we yearn for more information sometimes but the key thing about reporting these missing kids to put the public on alert. Report to the police if you see her or know anything about her.”
Margaret Ross: “Glad to see here that she's safe. At 15, she knows nothing so she better stay close to home. Next time, the outcome could be different.”
Hazel Christopher: “Happy she is back home.”
