Whitewashed

ABU DHABI – The West Indies suffered a humiliating 3-0 series whitewash for the first time when Pakistan cruised to a facile eight-wicket victory in the third and final Twenty20 International at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium yesterday.

Sent in, Pakistan exposed the reigning World T20 cricket champions’ weaknesses in conditions not conducive to big hitting as the West Indies laboured to 103 for five off their 20 overs.

The West Indies failed to get any momentum going after losing three top-order wickets to Imad Wasim’s flat left-arm spin with only Marlon Samuels, who remained unbeaten on 42 off 59 balls with three fours, getting past 20.

Chasing a target of fewer than six runs an over, Pakistan reached 108 for two in 15.1 overs to win with 23 balls to spare. (CMC)
