WILD COOT – Culture at risk?

Date:

Share post:

Geert Wilder, a Dutch member of parliament, recently in an address at the Four Seasons in New York warned Americans that within a few short years their country would be predominantly Muslim.
To be predominantly Muslim means a change in culture of the country. American culture today is basically a Christian culture just like Barbados’.
For a country to maintain its culture the minimum fertility rate must be 2.11 children per family. We shall see at the end of our current census what is the fertility rate of Barbadians. It would be interesting to know as well what is the fertility rate of Muslims in Barbados.
How near are we in Barbados to having the felicitous, eye-pleasing gyrations of crop-over changed?
Let me quote from recently released statistics of fertility rates. France 1.8, Germany 1.3, Italy 1.2, Spain 1.1, Greece 1.3, England 1.0, Europe 1.38. But the population in these countries is increasing rapidly not decreasing as would be expected. Reason, Islamic immigration!
Ninety per cent of all immigrants are Muslim and their fertility rate is an astounding 8.1 per family. Germany has now acknowledged that the downward spiral of its culture is irreversible and that Germany will be an Islamic country by the year 2050.
In southern France there are more mosques than churches and in 39 years’ time the dominant religion will be Islam.
The fertility rate of Canada is 1.6 but Islamic immigrants are responsible for the fastest growing religious increases. In the United States in 1970 there were 100 000 Muslims; now there are nine million.
It is calculated that in 30 years there will be 50 million Muslims in the United States, sufficient to effect a change in voting patterns. Truth be told, Islam will be the most dominant religion in the world, overtaking Catholicism.
Britain has made many concessions to its Muslim population and in the north of Britain there are an increasing number of mosques. Sharia laws prevail and the culture is changing. Some countries, like Australia recognise the possible influence on its population by immigrant migration and have voiced resistance.
“If Muslims want to live under Islamic Sharia law,” says Australia’s Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, “immigrants, not Australians must adapt. Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools.
“If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.”
Here in Barbados there is evidence that certain Barbadian customs are changing. For example, we see women with their entire face covered engaging in vehicular manipulation. Are our laws changing?
If we in Barbados pride ourselves on being the gurus of tolerance, religious and otherwise, why do we not introduce Sharia laws and facilitate our Muslim community?
So we say that we must respect Muslims, that they can establish their own school, have a different dress code and when they attend regular schools, are exempt from worship. Why not go the whole hog?
Frightened? Many unchurched relationships would be solemnised!
I suppose that the Pan-africanists should try again to establish their own school in this new age of tolerance.
Harry, not so fast. Ban hand-held video games at school also. In this computer age! Frightened?
