Workers in Barbados will not be scared into working under unfair circumstances for fear of losing their jobs.
That is the word from general secretary of the Barbados Workers Union (BWU), Toni Moore.
“Employers generally need to be aware that because there is an economic downturn, it should not suggest to them that workers will not stand on principle and issues which they find as impacting them and their security of employment,” Moore stated.
She was speaking after the conclusion of a meeting between BWU and Banks Holdings Limited (BHL) officials today at Solidarity House.
Employees of BHL staged a work stoppage on Friday, but returned to work later that day.
Moore said more meetings will be held between the two parties to resolve the outstanding issues. (RB)
