Wrong attitude

MANY OF THE applicants applying for jobs are unprepared for the world of work, says general manager of Pan American International Insurance Corporation Keith King.
This, he said, was not specific to those leaving secondary school, but also university graduates.  He said at least 40 percent of the people he sees for interviews are well qualified academically but their attitude is below the required standard.
King was addressing the fourth and fifth form students of the Lester Vaughan School  this morning during  the opening ceremony of the A Step into the World of Work Workshop.
“They think that the qualification is the most important thing.  But no, it is not.  If you have the right attitude we can teach you the skill, but if the attitude is wrong then there is not much we can do for you. Neither are you any good for the workplace,” he said. (LK)
