Springer still on top, Kolij edges to victory

There were no drums, but the Springer queens sure did a lot of beating at the National Stadium.
Led by the record-setting performances of 'Stadium Bullet' Akela Jones, the Government Hill lasses captured their seventh consecutive girls' title when the Powerade Barbados Secondary Schools' Athletic Championships concluded yesterday.
Entering the final day with a virtually unassailable lead of 97 points, Springer romped to an easy victory as Jones was named joint victrix ludorum with a maximum 40 points.
Undoubtedly the country's top athletics school, Springer have now secured an unprecedented 11 championships in 12 years.

Springer Memorial and Harrison College achieved contrasting victories to take the girls' and boys' titles respectively in the Powerade Barbados Secondary Schools Athletics Championships.
Springer Memorial stormed to their 11th victory in 12 years and their seventh straight, defeating their nearest rival, the St Michael School by a huge margin of over 100 points.
Harrison College tussled back and forth with 2008 boys' title holders Queen's College over the course of the five day championships, eventually easing to victory by 2.5 points.

i respect spinger school to de end but i only want to say that them only is win every year cause them got de most girls in de island but i gon make shore that them int ga win this year cause my school got a plan and your job is to find out which school and what plan

Spring high with joyous jubilation. Your goals are renewing; accomplishments refreshing, your boldness ensuing, the future pursuing. Revise your academic wishes and your plans. Aim for 100 and you probably will get 80, but aim for 50 and you will most likely fail. Set your study program to excell above what is expected of you. You are Great! Springer. Nothing isnt wrong with Springer. Recently one of the athletes made Barbados Histroy in being one of the first persons to get a Netball Scholarship to the UK. Its not the students its the name of the school that public take notice of. Note what schools you metion

Does Springer glory only extends to school sports???? After that where are all these Springer athletes? They certainly ain't gain from the gold up there in government Hill!!!! In the mean time...am I seeing girls from Lester Vaughan, Lodge, HC, SMS, QC going off on scholarships and doing well on the international track ...going to World Youth Games and World Junior games.... Something done wrong with Springer then!!!!

Just like education in b'dos. Too much emphasis is placed on a 5 day sport event, and a one day event like the "common entrance" and "O'levels" or their modern day equivalent. Sports and education should be approached as life-time opportunities and priviledges. Ex Lodge boy - with zero o'levels - subsequent CUNY and Harvard graduate - Higly successful entrepreneur. Can you argue against that "track record" LOL

Well done Springer, my old school. Back then when I was at Springer years ago, I too love going to school sports, I would never miss sports. Keep that Springer flag flying high!!!!!!!!
