Too loud karaoke in Leinster Road

Published on: 11/18/2009.

I AM WRITING THIS LETTER as a last resort.

The residents of Leinster Road, St Michael are fed up with the loud music coming from a shop in the area where karaoke and DJ music were recently introduced.

Every Saturday from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. on Sunday, sometimes later, this shop operates. When some neighbours asked them to just turn it down to allow us to sleep, they said they had a permit and blatantly said no.

Don't these permits have stipulated times, rules and so on? Can any and everyone get one? And don't the police follow up to make sure they are within the rules given?

There are many elderly people living in the district and this loud music is affecting them because they complain of headaches and other ailments.

I have called District "A" on this matter on numerous occassions. They are always going to "send someone" but no one ever comes.

They also said these people have a permit and they can't do anything. I went into Central Police Station and the policeman on duty told me the music should finish at 3 a.m.

Even in St Lawrence Gap those are the rules. Every Saturday night residents are forfeiting their night's rest to these inconsiderate people.

Recently on November 7 I called District "A" and spoke to two constables but unfortunately I did not get their names. I called the same night around the hours of 1:30 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. and nothing was done. The music finished at 5:30 a.m.

Last Saturday, November 14, the same thing occurred. I am hoping by printing this that something can finally be done.

Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Sweetheart every dog got he day and every hog he saturday .You do not have to worry you or the other affected residents .The police will come sooner than you think . I had a problem like that only thing it was dances and sunday schools . The people did as they please .Those going to church on the sunday had a dusty time getting up aftr little sleep.Complaints went unheard .Sometimes if the police came the people waited until they left and turned back up the music. Well one night a big fight break out and the people in the party was cowering .The men who were offended came heavily armed. Well in two twos the task force was there with even bigger weapons . That place get shut down FOR GOOD. God is NOT SLEEPING.
