Most of water wasted is not by the public

Published on: 11/18/2009.

I READ WITH ANGER the words of the acting general manager of the Barbados Water Authority (BWA), John Mwansa, threatening the public with an increase in water rates if water usage is not better managed.

On September 21 I called the BWA to report water leakage from a hydrant. After many calls to the customer service department, an email to the same department, a letter to the acting general manager, a letter to the ministry, nothing was done.

I finally called the BLP Christ Church West constituency on November 12 and it was fixed the following day - nearly eight weeks after my first call.

The BWA needs better management, Mwansa, not another increase in rates! I suggest your department is responsible for most of the wasted water, not the Barbadian public.

Who wasting the water . : 11/18/2009
The Barbados Water Authority is the chief water waster in Barbados . I say this because you call and tell them of a burst main and they spend days even weeks before showing up . You know how many millions of gallons of water are wasted daily .So stop trying to fing excuses for your own wrong doings .
