SIR ALLEN STANFORD'S
multimillion-dollar match for the biggest pay-day in cricket history looks set
to be called off.
The WEEKEND NATION understands that the US$5 million winner-take-all contest between a Stanford Super-Stars team and India scheduled for next June 29, was abandoned after India declined the invitation.
Speculation that the match would not come off was heightened by an inspection of the itinerary for the 2008 Digicel Series which showed that West Indies are to oppose Australia on the same day that Stanford match was scheduled. (HG)
