Show Rihanna we love her
Published on: 6/28/07.
I READ Rihanna's comments in Tuesday's DAILY NATION and I must confess that I am really sad to hear her express her feelings about Barbados and how Bajans treat her.
Rihanna is a lovely lady and showcasing Barbados wherever she goes, does that not count? I find that our society is full of envy and because of that envy, some people cannot acknowledge or treat people the way they should.
Barbados should be proud of Rihanna. Why has she not been made an ambassador for Barbados? She keeps reaching higher heights and taking Barbados to another level.
Obadele Thompson won one bronze medal and he was made an ambassador. C.O. Williams gave him land and Barbados Shipping & Trading gave him a car.
What has he done since that bronze medal? And we still acknowledge him.
Rihanna continues to show that she has what it takes. Give her what is due to her, Barbados.
I ask the Government of Barbados and corporate Barbados to do something for Rihanna and let her know that we love her and are proud of her achievements, not that we envy her. She should be making appearances at shows in Barbados, she should have a home in Barbados, and so on.
We bring everyone from Jamaica and Trinidad, and leave out our own. It seems to be a typical thing with Bajans to forsake their own and cling to outsiders.
Rihanna, I love you and I am proud of you. Keep up the good work, and make the megadollars. MC Hammer use to say in his song "can't touch this". Forget the haters, they are just waiting to see you fall, to say "I told you so".
