All-inclusive SoCo Hotel to open soon

Thu, May 31, 2012 - 12:00 AM

A new all-inclusive hotel will open on Barbados’ South Coast in just over two months, and one of Britain’s leading luxury travel specialists is forecasting that demand for that type of holiday will grow rapidly over the next few years.

Mike Collins, managing director of Tropical Sky – a provider of luxury holidays to the Caribbean – made the prediction as his company announced an August 15 opening date for the 24-room Miami Beach-style SoCo Hotel.

Tropical Sky took the decision to invest in the project after predicting rising customer demand for great value and quality holidays on Barbados.

Collins said he was expecting that increase in demand to become a reality as much-needed investment is being made into the island’s hotels.

“Customers are increasingly demanding higher quality as well as exceptional value and the island has needed to respond to this,” Collins said in a release.

“The SoCo Hotel is set to meet these demands and we are delighted to be the driving force behind this.”

He added that when The SoCo Hotel opens it will offer a laid-back, quality experience and will [offer] one of the very best all-inclusive rates anywhere on the island.

“It’s a very exciting project for us and we are sure that our customers will love it too,” Collins said.

“Recent news suggests that some mortgage providers will be increasing their rates soon, further squeezing everyone’s budgets. This will obviously affect many people’s ability to go on holidays where they need a lot of spending money. Tropical Sky and The SoCo Hotel, Barbados, with its all-inclusive offering responds very proactively to a changing market and customers’ needs,” he added. (DP)

SMOKE AND ASHES, what kind of demand will 24 rooms satisfy.one of the differences between barbados and many other vacation places is the ease and relativelysafety to venture away from the resort, sometimes you may meet and greet some locals that are so accomodating ,that you look foward to leaving the resort and enjoying the real bajan life. when you go to another vacation spot ,lets say mexico, you are warned and cautioned against exploring, so the all inclusive feature becomes attractive considering that one may spend the majority of their vacation at the resort. all inclusives also work best because of their seregation of their guests from the other guests and the public, one thing we want to preserve, "THE BEACH BELONG TO WE" and please realize that as long as theres sand between your property and the sea.. BAJANS HAVE A RIGHT TO BE THERE

Poor Shabizz...he imagines he's read the law.
He hasn't.

Public beach applies as far as the high water mark: no further.
Shabizz and other legally-under-educated Bajans
ASSUME that the entire beach is theirs
but they're usually out by about 35 metres.

Any new Hotel being build and providing jobs for our people are always welcomed., so I will congratulate this effort in this respect. Now the other part of my concern is that many Hotel owners are always speaking of their high standard and quality guest and in this case an all inclusive package, which means that there is not much left for the other businesses around them. My experience dealing with Hotels are that if you cannot share and allow your guest the pleasure of the wide rage of freedom to choose can at sometimes risky with guest feeling cheated. Commerce must prevail if success and profitability are the main concerns of these investors....good luck
