Bajan Pride

Here, jubilant Bajans cheering on Brathwaite in the 100m hurdles final. Inset, the large crowd gathered with their eyes glued to the big screen.

Yesterday at 4:15 p.m. Broad Street, The City, came to a standstill as hundreds of Barbadians gathered in front of the large screen on the Republic Bank to watch the 110 metres finals at the London Olympics.

They all had high hopes that Ryan Brathwaithe would bring another Olympic medal back to Barbados.

However, just over 13 seconds later, those hopes were dashed when Brathwaithe crossed the line in 5th position. However, many onlookers were overheard saying “regardless of his position he had done well”. (DB)

Ryan try his best, but for someone who won a medal four years ago, he just was not ready. I, as a Barbadian was hoping that he medal even if he got the Bronze. When you compared the times Ryan was doing with the other guys, Ryan did not stand a good chance of winning the Gold Medal this time around. As I said he did his best, but it was just not good enough for the world stage. All the best to Ryan in the future, hope he will keep focus, he is still a young man, he just have to work much harder if he want to win a medal at the 2016 games.
