SPEARHEADED BY TOP FEMALE SURFER and captain Chelsea Tuach, the Barbados team performed commendably at the recent ISA World Junior Surfing Championships in Panama.
Competing at the “Olympics” of junior surfing, Tuach finished an outstanding 11th out of 81 of the world’s best female junior surfers as she helped Barbados earn the No. 16 ranking among the 31 competing countries.
Tuach wowed the judges with her front and backhand attacks, posting wave scores in the six and seven-plus range in almost every heat she surfed.
She won her first round heat with 13 points, one of the highest scores in the first round, as she defeated Nicole Pallet from South Africa and Lucy Campbell of Great Britain.
