Barbados ‘better off than others’

THOUGH THINGS ARE BAD, Barbados is doing a lot better than several countries.

Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler made this point in a recent address during the opening ceremony of the Deacons Development Facility and Barbados Vocational Training Board’s (BVTB) Deacons Training Centre in Deacons Farm, St Michael.

“. . . We may have our challenges and we may have our struggles, but we are not doing badly ourselves in this environment,” he said.

“As Minister of Finance, I have a lot of strain on my shoulders [and] a lot of demands. We know that in this tough economic time all over the world people are struggling, that life is not easy, life can be very critical.

A drowning peron clutches at straws, just as a person walking in a desert jumps into an halo in attempt at finding water. But on the bright side Barbados, you will not have to wait too long to be rid of this illusionist of a Finance Minister , et al.

Posted by Belle Brewster 11 months, 1 week ago: Is this statement supposed to offer comfort and reassurance. It's like saying we f'ed up but that's not so bad because others f'ed up more. This does not mean things are good it just means that we are number one in what's f'ed up.

When folks make a genuine complaint about a certain deteriorating situation on this island,
you point to other places and say..
"See? they're worse off than we are, so shut yuh mout"
