SET UP by three-wicket strikes from Star of the Match, Tino Best and fellow pacer Fidel Edwards, Barbados completed an easy eight-wicket victory over Sussex Sharks in their Group B match of the Caribbean Twenty20 cricket tournament last night at Kensington Oval.
Sussex tumbled for a meagre 89 in 18 overs after winning the toss and batting and Barbados strolled home, reaching 90 for two in 14.4 overs.
Opener Kevin Stoute, who batted through for an unbeaten on 37 off 48 balls with four fours, and wicket-keeper Shane Dowrich (23 not out off 18 balls, 3x4) shared a match-winning 52-run third-wicket partnership.
Dwayne Smith also teased the 5 000 spectators with two big sixes in a cameo 18 before he was unfortunately run out, attempting a sharp single.
SUSSEX SHARKS 89 off 18 overs (Michael Yardy 33; Tino Best 3-11, Fidel Edwards 3-18, Ashley Nurse 2-8)
BARBADOS 90 for two off 14.4 overs (Kevin Stoute 37 not out, Shane Dowrich 23 not out). (EZS)
