A Barbados Labour Party (BLP) administration would be prepared to issue new television licences and leave the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) to fend for itself.
And it has also given the assurance that the privatization of other commercial entities under a BLP Government would not include state-owned schools or health facilities.
All this was pledged by Opposition Leader Owen Arthur last night as he explained his party’s planned approach to privatization.
Responding to questions during the first of the BLP’s People’s Forum on the topic Privatization: The Barbados Model, which was held at the Springer Memorial School, Arthur spoke about the future of a CBC – an issue raised by the audience – under his party’s stewardship.
