He is already facing strong criticism for suggesting an across the board 10 per cent pay cut.
But prominent businessman Andrew Bynoe maintains that Barbados needs to address the issues that affect the overall standard of living in a “dispassionate and an intelligent” way.
“I may well become the sacrificial lamb,” he told the WEEKEND NATION, in reference to a threat issued by an irate customer on Wednesday morning after hearing of his suggestion made at an Economic Outlook Breakfast Panel Discussion on Tuesday at the Hilton Barbados.
The owner of Carlton A1 and Emerald City supermarkets revealed in a letter written to this newspaper for publication that the customer had actually left him a message which said: “I will not shop at your supermarket any more.”

Comment LinkMr. Bynoe’s statement is enough to make his employees ill at ease in their jobs considering his advocation of a nationwide pay cut also includes them. Any nationwide pay cut would serve to further destabilize the economy since spending would be less and more layoffs would be the only option for businesses to continue operations. Maybe Mr. Bynoe has ulterior motives behind his statement. I hope his staff is unionize not that this makes any difference these days.

Comment LinkStupes. Mr. Bynoe, what will you be sacrificing? When my pay is cut, I still need to buy groceries at the same (ridiculous) prices. Will you slash the prices of items in your establishments by 10% for us? Drop in the bucket for you!
