Clerk sent on leave

Fresh trouble is brewing at The Alexandra Secondary School – this time at the level of the board of management – and it may reach the law courts.
It is over clerk typist and acting executive officer of the school’s board of management, Stasia Boyce, who was sent on “special/administrative” leave via a letter signed by the board’s chairman Keith Simmons on August 31.
The letter, which was obtained yesterday by the MIDWEEK NATION and which Boyce got on her first day back from holiday on September 3, instructed her to proceed on leave with immediate effect and on half-pay. She was not given a reason.
But the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) has taken up Boyce’s cause and has written to chairman Simmons stating that his instruction had “left a lot to be desired” and “can be construed as an abuse of power”.
