Fed up with the continued promises from Government, Al Barrack is going back to court to organize the sale of the Warrens Office Complex to recover some of the $72 million he is owed.
The contractor and his attorney Douglas Trotman yesterday told the SUNDAY SUN at Barrack’s Redman’s Village, St Thomas home, that they were going to court this week because they had received no firm statement from Government about the promised $60 million expected from the sale of the complex.
Minister of Housing Michael Lashley on Thursday announced that the payment was being worked on, and two weeks ago Prime Minister Freundel Stuart also gave the assurance Barrack would get his money.
It is understood Government has secured a buyer for the complex who would then lease the building to Government.

Comment LinkMr.Barrack must be related to the man renowned for his patience, the legendary Bro.Job! Undersatndably, as he continues to get the runaround, his patience is running out. The government has given him little choice but to seek legal redress in this matter.
Why is it that when governments or companies owe individuals, sometimes they take their sweet time in paying and no penalty is affixed for delay? On the other hand, when the reverse is true, when we owe, we receive all kinds of reminders, deadlines, threats, penalties, delays etc.? Truly there's no justice in the world.

Comment LinkNow it says back to court but what can the court do when it is the Government who have to pay these same Judges, are they going to send in a Marshal or debt collector who are also payed by the Government....this goes on and each time, why are we building these kind of projects if we cannot afford them. I really feel that Ministers need to be questioned in situations like this and be hold accountable for such misappropriation of public funds. We don't have the money to pay so why give the green light to build this project. I personally feel at least the 25 million first and find some kind of decision to help off set the intrust.
