DIRECTOR GENERAL of the Barbados Consumers Research Organization (BARCRO), Malcolm Gibbs-Taitt, has lashed out at Minister of Trade and Commerce Senator Haynesley Benn for talking about the organization in “a negative way”.
Furthermore, he told the DAILY NATION, the cash-strapped association was not in a position to do more in the protection of consumers unless they were given a subvention from Government.
Gibbs-Taitt’s comments came against the backdrop of Benn’s presence at the launch of the soon to be registered Consumer Trade and Research Association (CTRA).
And during the opening of a two-day seminar on Promotion Of Consumer Protection In the Caribbean at the Amaryllis Hotel recently, Benn called for consumer bodies here to do more to address pertinent issues relating to commerce.

Best advice I can give to the complaining "D-G" : swallow your pride; join BARP, and also the new Consumer organisation, and give them the benefit of your experience. And spare us tiresome, self-serving, and repetitive "contributions" on BOTH call-in radio shows.

Comment Linkcomplaints too much longer you know why? Because a lot of
companies with shabby business practices are going to be
destroyed through social media networks. Its already happening people talk about products and services and a lot of
businesses in Barbados and abroad are going to be affected.
Either they are going to shape up or go out of business its as simple as that. Other companies that want that business are paying close attention. Facebook has already made a huge impact on businesses good and bad.
