Baptists under fire

Baptists under fire Archbishop Granville Williams recounts the events.

Thu, September 02, 2010 - 12:00 AM

AN INTRUDER BROKE into the home of Archbishop of the Sons of God Apostolic Spiritual Baptist Church Granville Williams on Tuesday night and fired gunshots when confronted by church members.

In an interview yesterday Williams said, “Tuesday night we were having one of our regular general meetings. We had a fairly good turn-out and wanted to give God thanks for the tropical storm missing us.”

Williams said that around 10:25 p.m, someone came into the hall and shouted “Granville, someone in your house,” and ran away.

“I told the congregation to take it easy and some of the men went down to investigate while the service continued. Then I heard a gunshot and thought ‘this is serious’ and tried to keep the congregation calm,” he said.

Williams said he was not an eyewitness to what had happened but recounted what he was told by the men who investigated.

“I heard two of the men confronted an intruder who tried to escape by scaling a wall only to find two other men from the congregation on the other side.

“They said they threw rocks at him which was when he took out a gun and fired and got away as the men scattered,” he said.

Williams said he did not know what the intruder was after but expected he would return. However, he said he felt no fear.

“I am not really afraid as I am not a person to fear quickly and I am not afraid to sleep in my own home. I will not run, whatever happens,” he said.

Williams said he had been receiving threats via telephone for the past year which he said had intensified over the past few months. He was therefore  thinking of increasing security.

In August 2008, several thousand dollars was stolen from the church.

The money was the takings from that year’s Crop-Over Festival activities. (CA)

I think these lies and foolishness need to stop and most of all the harassment to the children of God .I pray that they will remember that God is watching and the angels are taking minuites and nothing you do here on earth will be hidden ,what is bound on earth is bound in heaven. So please leave us the children that want to praise God alone ,and get on your knees and ask God for forgiveness.

The story sounds fishy to me. Regular meeting on Tuesday night, persistent threats not followed through by the police… hmm Granville, I smell a rat.

Granville Williams That article does not make any sense what so ever…how can you call yourself a man of God and sleep during the night when you know what is going on…..May God have MERCY upon your soul. .but let me just say, you and that certain person you are working with will feel the rage of fire in hell when the truth is exposed…

Buckaroo, silver sands and servant of god , the Patriarch is not lying i witness some of the phone calls and letters.. He is a servant of the Living God. You all will pay a great price, you may not think so now, maybe because life with you is good and you are healthy, but your god can’t help you when all hell start on you.

I sit here, not able to correctly gather my thoughts. I am ashamed because I too was at that meeting on Tuesday night :(. I read the Leader is saying we were discussing the storm that just missed us…but leader you know that you were discussing the members that left the church because only Sunday before you put out 4 members for attending the service of another church. ..I was there and I kno. Another thing is no one shouted to you…one of your brethen came to you and whispered in your ear…..I nolonger want to be apart of your flock because this article and the lies it has written is tooo too too much for me to take. May your last days on earth be comforting because I know for sure God has no part in this ..

Please!!!! I really dont understand a young man is remanded for what??? a charge no one knows, please read that article again because it make no sence at all, this sounds like a real movie but its not a movie it is an act from a vision from Rev.John say he saw the young man breaking in the Arch house and then what they did is construct the vision. How can you take a child to the chill banks of Jordan and then turn around and cast him in devil dungeon,Lord please help them all.

whatever shortfalls the haters say granville has committed, the decades of committment Granville has shown to his congregation and the broader Bajan community is irrefutable.
have some respect for one of barbados’ most respected elders.
