SEIZE ONE of REDjet’s planes!

This is the call coming from angry ticket-holders who met at the Bay Street Esplanade yesterday to discuss how to recover money from the airline which has now filed for bankruptcy.

Spearheading the meeting attended by just over 20 people was Christine Eli, who last week said she planned to mount a protest to get refunded for a ticket to St Maarten, which she was not able to use because of the sudden suspension of REDjet flights on March 16.

The airline’s filing for bankruptcy on June 5 blocks any legal proceedings by its creditors.

Posted by Mary Yearwood 11 months, 2 weeks ago: Oh Puleease! Hold a plane for a ticket worth about $20? What about all the savings this person has enjoyed when the airline was in operation? It is people like her paying those kinds of prices for inter-island trips that caused the airline to go bankrupt in the first place. The law gives them a legal safe- haven, so you can forget about getting the $20. back.

Posted by dre Green 11 months, 2 weeks ago: I wonder if any of the planes are actually owned by Redjet or they belong to a leasing company. So legally seizing the planes wouldn't affect Redjet but it will cause friction with the company Redjet leased the aircrafts from and the leasing company is not responsible for paying out redjet's passengers since they did not make the contract with thoes passengers.

Posted by RICHARD power 11 months, 1 week ago: When are we bajans going to learn? I saw this coming every since. Redjet was doomed to failure from the beginning. When you start wrong you end wrong! Being educated doesn't mean that you have common sense. Bajans get left holding the bag once again. Literally figuratively and no flight to put them on lol!

Posted by Tony Waterman 11 months, 1 week ago: RUBBISH FOLKS!!!Use your brains if you have any, they will be some agent from somewhere there in a flash with a warrant to release the plane into his custody, you see those planes ARE LEASED not owned by REDJET so you can't hold anything, you are just collateral damage in the bigger scheme of things and will just have to wait and see if and what you can get. what you should be doing is getting all the people from throughout the region that are owed like you (For Seats) and filing at bankruptcy as a UNIT this way the total will be larger and therefore stand a chance of getting something back. but the seize the plane idea is silly you wont get anywhere there

Posted by dre Green 11 months, 1 week ago: Cannot agree with you on that Richard, there is a correct way to close a business even if it is supposed to be for a temporary period of time. For an airline to suddenly shut down like that without making alternative arrangements for passengers who are supposed to return on your service is very disrespectful! They should've taken a leaf out of the iconic airline Pan Am which had their very last schedule flight out of Barbados on December 4th 1991 before shutting down their operations. As any good company would do they contacted all their passengers informing them that the airline was closing and give them the chance to fly Pan Am back to the US.

It is dishonest for the airline to take consumers money and not refund them what they are due but a voice in my head tells me that this airline is so broke that they may have already spent that money on campaigning throughout the region for funds to restart operations. I wish those people who are still owed money the best of luck in getting it back but I wouldn't hold my breath for the company to refund the customers.

Posted by Kenneth King 11 months, 1 week ago: @M.Y, know on asked REDjet to lower their fares, that was their choice, what kind of argument is that. We all know when you open a business, there are risk involved; therefore if people pay their hard earn money even if its $5, that is still their privileged to demand a refund. There are no safe haven as you mention, that is for you or anybody wanting to open a Firm legally.
