Internet pharmacies ‘a big challenge’

INTERNET PHARMACIES have brought new challenges for law enforcement.
While noting that many online pharmacies were “reputable” and “legitimate”, representative from the Organization of American States (OAS), Ambassador Francis McBarnette, said there were particular challenges in the movement of products over international borders.
McBarnette was speaking at the opening of the first seminar on the subject to be held at Hilton Barbados on Monday. He said the objective was to provide participants with practical and systematic instruction and exposure to methods and tools to help them identify, monitor and investigate the sale of drugs over the Internet.
“The nature of the Internet makes the challenge of tracking and monitoring difficult but I believe, as the participants will discover, not impossible.
