Jamaica PM and Rihanna in TIME

Thu, April 19, 2012 - 9:14 AM

Jamaica’s Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller and Barbados’ pop singing superstar Rihanna have been chosen by the American news magazine, TIME, among its “100 Most Influential People in the World”.

TIME said the coveted list recognizes the “activism, innovation and achievement of the world’s most influential individuals.

“They are the people who inspire us, entertain us, challenge us and change our world,” it said, stating that “breakouts, pioneers, moguls, leaders and icons” make up this year's TIME 100.

Simpson Miller and Rihanna joined a cast of other world leaders and influential political figures, including United States President Barack Obama, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, US presumptive Republican Presidential nominee Mitt Romney, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. congratulations to two of the Caribbean leading ladies. trailblazers and iconic. tears well into my eyes as i was privileged to share a region,a country, a school and a neighbourhood /village with you.. as we continue to achieve and excel as nations in the caribbean region I pray that we don't lose focus on the path we took to get where we are today, to treat each other with dignity and respect, to honor the principle of unity.. let' "WEST INDIAN"define us not only geographically, but historically and culturally . RI RI" up and on CAWMERE

I could understand the inclusion of Rihanna but Simpson-Millers inclusion boggles the mind. However I support them as Caribbean women achieving this type of recognition.

Rihanna, a beautiful and great young lady who has the world at her finger tips but is going astray with the image that she is portraying such as wearing the badge of honor for ‘THUG LIFE”, proudly displayed on several occasions. I wish her well and hope and pray that she leaves that part of the rugged life behind.

If she was from Maxwell? If her last name was musson? if she had stayed home and pass up the opportunity of greatness and influence. she will continue to soar.. UP AND ON
