PREPARE for a wet weekend.

The Barbados Meteorological Office has predicted “unsettled” conditions accompanied by “moderate-to-heavy showers, periods of rain and isolated thunderstorms”.

They said the rains were due to the northward movement of the inter-tropical convergence zone across the island.

That same system dumped inches of rain across Barbados yesterday presenting a challenge to motorists and pedestrians.

What is it with the flooding issue in Barbados. I remember roads like this when I was a little girl. I would think this problem would've been fixed by now instead of doing it the same old way. I'm seeing brand new roads that are flooding with not much drainage. It makes no sense.

Now we desperately need the rain. We cannot argue, at least not yet that the earth is saturated, so are we repeating the same old problem of clogged drains?

The Sun is out this weekend. Which weekend is the Met Office talking about? Why is it they always know after the fact? Why couldn't they say Friday May fourth would have been a rainy one? After Hurricane Tomas and even before then, I don't pay Barbados Met Office much attention !
