The deal to purchase Bayview Hospital by a new company headed by cardiologist Dr Alfred Sparman has reportedly collapsed.
And as a result, the half-million dollar down payment made last year by the Sparman-led company called ADIS Medical Services Incorporated, has been forfeited.
“A decision has been taken by the board to [keep] the down payment since they (ADIS) have breached the agreement and long gone past the deadline date,” said Dr William Duguid, chairman of the private hospital’s board of management.
Duguid told the SUNDAY SUN the company was supposed to pay the remainder of a $6 million fee for the purchase of the private hospital on Beckles Road, St Michael.
Efforts to contact Sparman for comment proved futile but reports indicated the matter could be heading to the law courts.
