Move over, IPL.

Franchise-based T20 cricket is coming to the Caribbean.

According to a Press release issued by the WICB yesterday, the league comes as part of an arrangement with Barbados-based merchant bank Verus International, which will also provide funding for new retainer contracts for regional players. (JM)

I suggest that this money-spinner go the whole hog to "improve" the game: use a cylindrical bat (much cheaper than a willow); the pitch can resemble a "diamond"; bowlers may "pelt" a maximum of three balls per over at 155m.p.h… (Sales of Kevlar helmets will take off). However, no peanuts may be sold…just hot-dogs. In a few years, our "batters" , "pelters", will win the world series, held right here at Kensington, with the PM throwing the first ball, and Rihanna umpiring. In very short shorts. High Fives all around, while grown men cry.
