SIR ROY TROTMAN’s attack on the management of Diamonds International was unfortunate and can “scare people away from Barbados”.

Opposition Member of Parliament George Payne made this charge in the House of Assembly on Tuesday during debate on the Employment Rights Bill.

He took issue with the comments by the head of the Barbados Workers’ Union but also thought that Minister of Labour Dr Esther Byer-Suckoo should have been reprimanded.

Just like the 30 pieces of silver.... mark these words. Until barbados can unjustify this partiality,it will not go away..... here is a minister selling our rights for the benefit of votes, can a american of african descent be called " AFRICAN AMERICAN"? can i be refered to as a" bajan rasta?" can you mr.payne.be refered to as a barbadian christian? Wouldn't it then to be discriminatory if it was unacceptable to call Mr. hassid an Egyptian jew? For the past few days I have attempted to comment on articles. isn't this discriminatory for the nation news to refuse to publish them? President kennedy said they are as guilty as the perpetrator, the ones who stand by and do nothing... selah

Maybe paying them 150% more will not. Personally I think it will attract more, are you really serious? Diamonds International pays bajans $800 and pays foreingers $1000. and here stands a government minister, supporting the firm who openly and blatantly discriminates against Bajans. This is an election year, this is what you have to look foward to. BAJANS CHOOSE WISELY.
