THE FORTHCOMING GENERAL ELECTIONS here could be sooner than most people think.
Prime Minister Freundel Stuart suggested as much on Sunday night, saying the Opposition Barbados Labour Party (BLP) would not have to wait too long for the poll, but would have to wait long to return to Government.
“I am not going to keep them waiting too long. I’m going to settle this sooner than they think because they need to understand who is who in Barbados, and I am going to show them who is who,” the Prime Minister said to loud applause from those attending the joint meeting of the St Andrew and St Joseph constituency branches of the ruling Democratic Labour Party (DLP).
Elections are constitutionally due by mid-April next year and some commentators had suggested that Stuart would be inclined to go down to the wire.
