Kelvin Scott, the managing director of Scott’s Jewellery and Services, blamed the situation on underground cash-for-gold buyers who have done a good job of hiding from the Royal Barbados Police Force.

“I am convinced the legitimate dealers are not a threat,” he told the MIDWEEK NATION yesterday.

Just do like everywhere else in North America. Make it mandatory to present photo identification when you want to sell gold to these businesses. Also make the businesses accountable if they do not follow the strict procedure. Fine them heavily for accepting gold without proper i.d.
